Cascade of Senses

In the dark chamber room, only the light of an overhead projector hits the wall.

Now, a dark drop appears on the glowing glass surface, then a delicate female index finger shapes it into a pale purple color.

Meanwhile, jazz starts playing from the stage, you can know from the crackling of the sound that it plays from a vinyl record.

The colors projected on the wall take various shapes in the meantime, we see sometimes a finger, sometimes a brush on the wall as the colors and shapes become more and more varied and slowly follow the mood of the music.

When we could already divide our attention between the music and the constantly changing pictures, a firm voice speaks up, the young man is saying a poem.

The experience intensifies, the chaos of colors seems to follow already not only the mood of the music, but also the rhythm of the poem. We are not viewers of some mysterious thriller, but of a special performance in the actor training room of Free SZFE

Synesthesia is a special phenomenon in which the boundaries of the senses blur: the stimulus hitting one sense organ automatically and involuntarily triggers another sensation too. The performance is unique and unrepeatable, it fascinates you, keeps you captured, and it is bad when it ends, but it throbs in us for a long time still.

The painter is Anka Arnóth visual artist, she graduated at the painter major of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2025. In her work, the boundaries of figurativity and non-figurativity give space to associative reception. She deals with topics like self- and body-awareness, sexuality, and isolation.

The musician is Balázs Pándi drummer, journalist, concert organizer, collector. He is a participant of numerous noise music, jazz, and free-jazz projects.

The readers are Péter Závada poet, playwright. He got his PhD in 2022 at the Aesthetics major of ELTE, since then he teaches there. His latest poetry book, Éngép, appeared in 2025 under the care of Jelenkor.

Orsolya Fenyvesi was born in 1986, graduated as an art historian at ELTE, currently works as a publishing editor, besides she translates poetry and children’s literature. Four poetry books of hers appeared, most recently in 2022 with the title Mindig kezdetben.
