A look back at Budapest’s cultural diversity in 2024

2024 was also full of cultural programs and hungarynow participated in them. Let’s recall the most significant and memorable events from our articles.
We visited the collective exhibition of Sándor Galimberti and his wives. The real peculiarity of the tragically fated painter couple was that art historians identified a painting in 2024 that had been attributed to Sándor Galimberti until now, but was the work of his second wife, Valéria Dénes. The exhibition was a worthy tribute to the Nagybánya and Parisian schools of painting of the early 20th century.
The exhibition of András Mengyán organized by the Kieselbach Gallery was a great success. The artist performs a real space warp with his geometric abstract works, and looking at the works, we sometimes end up in another universe. The exhibited works of the artist, who also visited America, guided the visitor from simple line graphics to futuristic works that react to UV light.
The highly successful exhibition presenting the life’s work of Mihály Munkácsy can be seen at the Museum of Fine Arts until March 30. In Hungary, we have mainly known his large historical tableau paintings so far, but the exhibition revealed the light-hearted details of the great artist’s Parisian life, and the plain air paintings made here introduced a new way of seeing.
We visited Tamás Náray’s exhibition. The popular and successful fashion designer has been living in Spain for years, and his fine art creations are increasingly mature, showing his thoughts about the world and emotions. The paintings presented under the title The Second Golden Age, with their outstanding color selection and the power of modern vision, transport us to a wonderful world and reshape our idea of the real world by showing its mirror image.
We were able to enjoy the virtuoso performance of the bands of two outstanding figures of the music scene, Al di Meola and Mike Stern, at the Erkel Theater. The two world-famous artists played a modern version of jazz, the electronic sound also surpassed the high-quality bands.
Budapest also holds many cultural surprises for the residents of the Hungarian capital and travelers visiting here in 2025.
