The story of Bory Castle began in 1912 when Jenő Bory purchased a plot of land in Mária Valley, near Székesfehérvár. Originally, he planned to build a summer house here, but due to the First World War and a missed architectural commission, he ultimately decided to realize his artistic dreams here.

Construction started in 1923 and continued until Bory’s death in 1959. The castle was not only the family home but also a vast studio where Bory and his wife, painter Ilona Komócsin, could create. The building continuously expanded and changed over the years, reflecting Bory’s creative energy and the power of marital love.

Bory Castle is a labyrinthine complex of buildings, adorned with numerous towers, bridges, stairs, and courtyards. Every corner of the castle is filled with art: sculptures, paintings, reliefs, and mosaics decorate the walls and gardens.
