Pécs, the fifth most populous city in Hungary and the cultural center of Southern Transdanubia, boasts a rich history and fascinating sights. Within a 50 km radius of the city, further captivating treasures await discovery, from historical castles and picturesque hiking trails to charming wine cellars.

Historical sights:

  • Pécs downtown: Home to numerous historical buildings such as Dóm Square, the Cathedral, the Zsolnay Fountain, the Csontváry Museum, the Jakováli Hasszán Mosque, and the Gázi Kászim Pasha Mosque.
  • Siklós Castle: One of the best-preserved castles in Hungary, dating back to the 12th century. The castle houses a museum, a knight’s hall, and a chapel.
  • Villány Castle: Built in the 13th century, the castle is located on the southern slope of the Villány Mountains. The castle offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
  • Máriagyűd Pilgrimage Church: The 18th-century Baroque church is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Hungary.
  • Püspökszentlászló: The village is located in the Mecsek Mountains and is home to the 11th-century Saint László Church, one of the oldest surviving churches in Hungary.
